single digit days

outdoor thermometer reads 0°F

blankets strewn over a laundry drying rack to create a makeshift "sleeping tent" for Sparky on these cold nights -- yes, he is in there, curled up under the blue sleeping bag:

it is impossible to get a still photo of Diesel, ever nervous and in motion:

stage curtains

a new show happens every time they open:

(above: naughty cat sleeping in tray)
...made these curtains last year from fabric remnants I got off eBay - I love gingham checks & buffalo plaids, it must be a feeling left over from childhood, as they were such a popular motif in the 70s - as a kid, I had a pink gingham sheet set; my sister's red-headed Barbie wore a lime green gingham dress; and our childhood neighbor friend Marnie had a sunshine yellow bedroom with bright yellow gingham bedspread and curtains

Sparky chased this stray cat up a tree in our yard - I never saw a cat climb so high so fast. After a few hours, we could still see it shivering up in the tree. Tim decided to help motivate it to come down before it got much darker and colder outside, by climbing up a nearby tree. With a little nudge, the cat scrambled back down the tree super-fast and bounded off towards the pond. (notice how all the snow and ice had melted again on this day)
