Soon after the chickadees hatched, our cats discovered the stump that made interesting noises. So we put a tall chicken-wire cylinder over the stump to protect the baby chicks. The parents didn't seem to mind, as it gave them extra structure to perch on - but it made for more difficult picture-taking. (Click on the 2nd series to get a better peek)
